We are running a financial transaction processing system and Arkeia takes care of the Oracle database backup and all the systems and applications.

It is a homogeneous network of a dozen Linux machines that run all the production servers (Oracle 9i database cluster, Oracle Application server management servers, etc.).

Since our environment is Linux based, we needed a native backup solution that was easy for us to install and support, while supporting tape libraries and not just tape drives on a local host.

Arkeia supported a wide array of libraries, including our HP Autoloader DLT VS-80 and had native Linux support for the clients and the server, and also offered a native Oracle RMAN agent for our database backups.

We have been using Arkeia for over a year now, and have been very happy with the level of support and assistance.

The back up software achieves extremely fast backup speeds using Multi-Plexing/Multi-Streaming, with simultaneous read/write access to as many as 32 tape drives per backup job and can manage simultaneous, multiple backup and restore operations.

The modular structure allows us to add functions like Arkeia's fully automatic disaster recovery module, which lets us restore our server, even if the machine was stolen or destroyed.

The nature of our business requires backing up sensitive CAD data of an ever increasing volume and storing that data for long periods of time.
